Mom helped me start a bucket of food, it sits nearby with Reeses cups, a chocolate muffin (that smells sooo good), mom’s apple fritter (that smells more amazing than the muffin) a tin of “I Love Lucy” mints, these new Ritz cracker sandwiches and my brother shared some of his Riesen candy.

You probably think that smelling the food would make it harder, honestly sometimes it is, sometimes it’s comforting.
When I was little and had pancreatitis I couldn’t eat for 17 days. That’s when my mom came up with the food list idea, back then the food at the top was broccoli.
At one point I wanted chocolate so mom got me a funsized bar. I fell asleep with it under my nose leaving a little indent in it.

As for today, they’re thinking nutients through a bag. Yum!

So, what do you do when you get your pancreas angry and inflamed?

1. Wither in pain. I hear it’s worse than child birth, so at least I don’t have much to fear.

2. Puke your guts out. I know, I know sounds gross but it doesn’t sound as bad as it actually is.

3. Because you’re puking your guts out, you don’t get to eat food. 3 days so far.

4. So in between the C.A.T scans and an M.R.C.P scans (I’ve been in and outta hospitals my whole life and still don’t know what half the letters stand for. Feel free to Google it and explain if you want.) You get to watch tv. Which means lots of comercials. 90% are, yes, food comercials. Which brings me to…

5. So you’re starving. They finally get the right amount of anti nausea meds flowing through your veins, (after stabbing you in the arm, and digging around. And don’t even get me started on the “Blood Fairy” who comes in at around 4am to draw blood). Every food looks good. So I started a food list. Everything I’m going to eat when I get out. See below.

6. In between needles, tests and food comercials are movies. I’m getting all my 80′s cult classics in.

My summer has begun! My friend Kat is off to AK, which has marked the beginning of my summers for the last 5-6 years.   I’m looking forward to the letters or as a virtual world might call it, snail mail.  With no phone access or Internet, we’ve written back and forth every summer.   In the Winter she lives in MA and due to lack of  Internet connection and a bit of lack in time, I haven’t been so great in keeping in touch with her the last year.  So we have some catching up to do.

Even though in some ways over the years we’ve grown apart  or rather interests have changed, mostly on my part, what brought us together as friends was Harry Potter,  and that rolled into writing.  She in most ways showed me my love for it.  In the past 2-3 years my writing has dwindled from fan fiction and full stories to mostly poetry with a few, what I call writing fragments (called that cause I don’t think they’re long enough to qualify as short stories).  And although we don’t talk too much about writing anymore, It’s our summer letters that I think really keep us connected and they’re something I look forward to all year.   So here’s to another year! Cheers girlie!

Ramblings Inspired by Listening to too Much Taylor Swift

I was born on the wrong southern coast.

I remember, its a tad fuzzy though, I was like 6 or 7 maybe and we were at a county fair and they had a country radio station booth, I dont remeber the actual station but they had these, I guess special membership cards and I had to have one. I dont know if my dad was able to talk them into giving me one or had to pay for a membership but I got my country music membership.
I’m the only one in my family, where my ears perk up at the mention of the CMAs or an artist I’m familiar with, and I’m almost 99% sure I’m the only one that listens to country music. I’ve been that way for as long as I can remember, though I do go through periods where I don’t listen to any, I always come back to it. With all music I listen to, I’m a big lyric person, if a song has good lyrics, relatable lyrics I’m hooked and could listen to the same artist, same songs over and over for days on end, and a lot of country music holds really good lyrics and maybe that’s what hooked me when I was younger.

I was born in southern CA, but raised near Seattle WA, lived in SF for a few years and out in AZ for a few more. Could we get any more non southern belle?
But ya know everything in me screams that I am, so my guess is that I either lived some where in the south in a past life or I was in fact just born on the wrong southern coast. I have a deep interest in NC, due to the books I’ve read by a certain author. I also find TN and GA interesting.
I think its the way of life that catches my attraction, the small town, laid back atmosphere, but just a different kind that what’s found here in southern CA. Or maybe I’m just tired of sunsets and palm trees, though they have their own beauty, Southern CA has lost most of its attraction for me. Its now a place to just visit and not live. I need trees, grass, a change of weather and seasons every now and again.

I was going somewhere with all of this when I started it, but I can’t remember so you can thank my rambling to too much Taylor Swift today. haha.

I’ll say this, the girl’s talented, and classy and has a good head on her shoulders.

Sounds like I have some twittering to do…..

Coming from blogger, I have to say I really like the wordpress dashboard and how its set up. The downside is that the themes don’t have as much customization as I would like for someone who can’t afford to pay and that is what could, in the end send me else where. For now though, I’ll see how this works, the convince of it might get me to stay and use it. Like the “Press this” extra is kind of neat, and the applications I can find for WordPress, so far out number the Blogger apps. So convience might win over customization.

Now I had had a Google email account for a while but I hated the look of the Gmail and didn’t like the whole label thing instead of folders Now thanks to the Firefox extension Better
Gmail I can happily live in peace with my Gmail thanks to the customizable settings and skins.

Switching wasn’t as horrible or traumatic (traumatic in that I could loose my years of saved emails and folders)as I thought. I had yahoo plus, the once a year upgrade which comes with an email archiver where I easily exported my folders to my computer. Then manually moved my address book into my contacts over at Google mail. Not too painful a task since my address book isn’t too full.
Now for anyone that knows me, and hasn’t seen any of the notices I’ve sent out, my Yahoo address is still going to work, everything sent there is being forwarded to Gmail’s inbox. If you want my Google mail for future references send me a message somewhere.
So after settling into my Gmail, I decided to play with iGoogle, the My Yahoo of Google. I had also never been much of a fan of this, I had set it up just like I had gotten a Google email but never used it. Well in a matter of hours I’ve come to love it. So here is where I’m sharing the gadgets/widgets I’ve added, the purpose I started this particular blog.

First you notice that my iGoogle looks quite different than the “classic” view or any of the themes Google has, none of which I really cared for. Thats thanks to Custom iGoogle Skins which also lets you create your own skin. I haven’t gotten around to that yet so I have it on “Pinky”.
Starting in my left column I have a few “must-haves” or my important stuff. Gmail the google inbox previewer.
Links to Google Services makes it easier to get to my blogger, notebook, spreadsheets & doc; photo album, and calender etc.
Myspace Remote Login & Facebook again mainly for quick easy access when I first bring my browser up and sign into things it’s all right there.
Date and Time Just nifty.
Google Calender When expanded it shows my upcoming events and entries.
Current Moon Phase Just cause I like it.
The middle column, Google Slideshow I like this, cause it just adds a little something extra and you can go in and customize it for the slide show you want.
To-do list those are always helpful and its where I can see it so I might actually get it done.
Web stickies Sticky notes for iGoogle, stick em places for little reminders.
Recommended Gadgets I’m always looking for other add-ons and extensions, gadgets.
Quotes of the Day This one I like because unlike the other quotes of the day gadgets this doesnt just give you the person who gave the quote but gives you the full quote and the person.
Love Quote of the Day They just make me smile.
Daily Literary Quote Something extra.
Saint of the day Just cause I always found the back stories to saints interesting and wanted to learn a few of them.
Right side column, Custom iGoogle Skins as mentioned before.
Google Talk Since I don’t have it on my computer I can just have it here, which is nice that I don’t have to download yet another messenger. And no, I don’t like Trillian.

Then my other tabs, Fun stuff is full of the game gadgets found on iGoogle so if I want to waste time its all right there. The Reads tab is a few Rss feeds I don’t have in my Sage reader (firefox extention).

“Staff at Living Coasts in Torquay, Devon, asked the local council to paint the black and white markings to improve safety.

The attraction’s colony of 80 African penguins regularly use a public thoroughfare during feeding time.

Every day the birds cross a wide footpath as they make their way from Penguin Beach to meet a keeper.

Staff noticed the excited animals were bumping into visitors and so installed the zebra crossing to keep therm in order.

‘It’s hard to teach a penguin road safety, but the zebra crossing does alert visitors to the fact that the birds cross there.

‘They live on Penguin Beach but are fed in the public area which means a fair bit of to-ing and fro-ing.’
